WA Solar Schools Program Education and Information Resources

As part of the Western Australian (WA) Solar Schools Program, the Sustainable Energy Development Office (SEDO) has identified a number of education and information resources for teachers and students, including resources for conducting energy audits.

CSIRO Education

CSIRO operates a range of science education projects which aim to alert school students, their families and teachers to the contribution of scientific research to our community, encourage students to participate in scientific activities and encourage students to take up careers in science.

TravelSmart to School

TravelSmart to School is an integrated education program run by the Department of Transport to raise awareness about the impacts of car use and to encourage the use of travel alternatives. The program promotes walking, cycling, public transport and carpooling for school trips.

TAFE

Central TAFE Renewable Energy Courses

TAFE offers a Certificate IV in Renewable Energy, a Diploma of Electrotechnology (Renewable Energy) and an Advanced Diploma of Renewable Energy – Technology course. These courses prepare students for employment in the renewable energy industry by providing training in the design skills and installation techniques needed for renewable energy systems.

Universities


Murdoch University – School of Engineering and Energy

Murdoch University offers qualifications in the technical, economic and policy aspects of renewable energy. Some programs are available externally via the internet enabling part-time or full-time study without needing to attend a campus. Choose from:

Bachelor of Science (Sustainable Energy Management)
Bachelor Engineering (Renewable Energy Engineering) (on-campus only)
Postgraduate Certificate (Energy Studies)
Postgraduate Diploma (Energy Studies or Energy & Environment)
Master of Science (Renewable Energy or Environmental Architecture)

Curtin University – Engineering

Curtin University offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering including:

Master of Engineering Science (Renewable Energy Electrical Power Systems). This course deals with sources of alternative energy such as wind, solar, fuel cells, micro hydro and the integration of these into standard power grids.

RISE – Professional Development & Training

The Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE) conducts short courses for professionals involved in the renewable energy industry, including the technical, financial and policy areas.

Curtin University – Postgraduate Courses in Cleaner Production and Sustainability Management

The Centre of Excellence in Cleaner Production, based at Curtin University, brings together Curtin's research and teaching in the area of business contributions to sustainable development with regards to eco-efficiency, innovation and sustainability management..
