The Sustainable Energy Development Office (SEDO) has developed a Sustainable Energy Community Seminar Kit for use by local government, community groups, and other interested organisations to promote understanding of energy efficiency and sustainable energy use in the community. The Community Seminar Kit is available at no cost to organisations who want to conduct free seminars in their community via a user agreement signed with the Sustainable Energy Development Office. The five seminars provided cover one key topic each with speaker notes included for each presentation. Each seminar generally takes about two hours to present. The Kit is a folder containing printed and electronic (on CD) versions of slide presentations and presenter notes for the five seminars. The Kit also contains instructions, templates for producing promotional material and reports, SEDO brochure order forms, and frequently asked questions. The five seminar topics are: Seminar 1: Energy Challenge This seminar encourages home owners to set a weekly goal from the ‘Take the Energy Challenge’ check list to reduce energy use. Seminar 2: House Energy Rating This seminar encourages solar passive design and encourages home owners to obtain a house energy rating, and has been particularly tailored for people building and renovating. Seminar 3: Winter Warmth This seminar identifies ways to keep warm in winter which may reduce energy bills and have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Seminar 4: Summer Cooling |
